Artist Statement
I am in awe of the outdoors and inspired to create paintings of the landscape from my travels throughout the western United States.
My photographs and sketches along with memories of places inform much of my work, and the plein air experience offers a feeling of oneness with the environment. All of these influences guide my painting process with both oil and acrylic mediums. I enjoy using my favorite color palettes rather than exactly matching Mother Nature.
My paintings embody the joy and happiness inherent in being outdoors. They offer precious moments of light on the land and in the foliage, as well as the gorgeous color of the western skies.
